Special Meeting
- Go Green! Party
- I was thinking about having a "Go Green! Party" with the Jr. Leaders 4-H club and maybe the rest of Monroe County 4-H to allow them to meet each other. The ideas that I came up with are listed below. We could eventually use this to help 4-Hers from local counties (esp jr. leaders or collegiate 4-H to get to know each other.) I thought it would be cool to have to poster that they make to advertise 4-H for the county & to advertise IU Collegiate 4-H.
- Everyone wears green.
- Make a cool display board (or a bunch of green posters) about what members like best about their local (& state) 4-H program. Or what 4-H is to them. Or what ever they want to put down.
- Play music
- Play games
- Have a display about successful 4-Hers
- Drink Green Punch?
- Eat Green food?
- Have this happen around St. Patrick’s Day (when we & they are not on Spring Break)
- Invite other counties to have their 4-Hers join us?
- Achievement
- Possibly the 1st week in October (date could be moved) At the Fairgrounds
- 1 day
- Help the hungry/Award Ceremony
- Public Speaking/Demonstration Contest
- http://www.facebook.com/pages/Clark-County-4-H-Public-SpeakingDemonstrationAction-Demonstration-Contest/182823181763604
- Also, there are all of the notes/fliers from when Collegiate 4-H use to do workshops on Google Docs.
- If you need help learning about Google Docs, you can ask me for advice or find a tutorial on YouTube.
- To be in club, a person must be
- IU
- Ivy Tech
- Rolissa
- Be the age limit
- Ice Cream Social
- Jeff can help with funds, but we have enough in the bank account
- Steve McKinley is willing to help us by putting anything we want in the newsletter
- Student Involvement Fair
- We re-registered as a club, so now we need to sign up for this.
- Ways to advertise the club
- Chalking
- Fliers
- Jeff wants to know:
- What can he help us with.
- What can he do for us
- Our club needs:
- a strong leadership team
- Find people who are willing to step up
- Need grounding in people
- Need to find a graduate advisor to be able to help
- A graduate (masters/PHD) student who was previously a student leader and 4-H would know about campus 4-Hers
- Sean Bowman
- Target close counties
- Matt Hottle
- Advisor could help with advisor.
- Ask the poultry man. John Foller to be our advisor. (I have a meeting with him next week.)
- Dr. Strand
- Karl Swenson
- Role
- Serve as a grad advisor
- Mentor leadership team
- Come up with Ideas
- knows IU
- Knows how student organizations work
- Jeff will try to give us the 4-H members coming to IU list. Jeff will send out an e-mail to get this on August 15th.
- He will be able to start that over again.
- Leadership Team
- Recruitment Strategy
- Know where we want the club to go
- Some more people Jeff is thinking about:
- Melissa Wilkes (Ivy Tech student) never showed up to our members.
- Jackie goes here
- 2 4-H Chorus kids might come here.
- Laura Taylor and I can’t remember who else. (They don’t sound interested.)
- Try to target the education school
- They already like and want to help children.
- Does Jeff know of any existing students that might be interested
- Meecha goes to Ivy Tech
- Coby Stillions
- Jerry Sears
- look on Monroe county 4-H for potential
- Jeff should find
- some of the higher students (phd) and see where they are.
- Would be here for 5 years (phd)
- Needs community service
- 3 years (lawyer)
- have resources
- Sharon Hutchinson was in band and she’s here
- Jeff could send out an invitation to our facebook event (from the page).
- Most of them will see it.
- Jeff recruit at Band, chorus, Jr. leader’s conference
- Jeff should e-mail a flier and ask for names of students going to IU to all the counties. I think he should list all of the schools that have a collegiate 4-H too. (I might e-mail Steve and talk to him about it.)
- use to take the leadership list off their website (Jess, could you send me that link).
- Steve told Jess that we could volunteer at events to get our name out there.
- There are no people that say anything about Collegiate 4-H
- Venue: send a flier. send it to all 92 counties.
- We’ve struggled with (when volunteering with 4-H):
- The times do not go together well
- too soon in the year.
- Meetings need
- no more than an hour
- food helps
- fun (at the end have songs and games)
- Come to 4-H meeting then volunteer during the next 2 weeks.
- Service Ideas
- Food bank
- Adopt a 4-H club
- Jeff will keep in contact with me. Jess will be moving this summer.
- I need to get the bank account card signed over from Allision before I go home.
- We should have $1,200 or $1,400 in the bank account.
- For rides to events:
- ZipCar.Com
- There is a special for IU students
- $30 to register
- $8 per hour for car (don’t have to pay for gas or insurance)
- You get a key for the car then reserve it.
- Driver does not need insurance.
- The club use to send out weekly update e-mails to keep members.
- We had a blog:
- If I update it, it’ll show further up on the google search list.
- North Central Regional Collegiate 4-H Conference.
- Collegiate 4-H use to pay half of your $100 fee if you volunteered twice and did one fundraising event.
- Bond in the car and came up with great ideas.
- I need to go to the SOA office to pick up our mail.
- We should have a lot of bank statements there.
- display board
- Needs a waterproof portfolio. $30-$60.
- We definitely need one.
- We could buy one and get reimbursed for it.
- To send an e-mail to the members, send an e-mail to yahoo groups from our gmail account.
- Jess taught me more about how to use Yahoo Groups.
- I already know how to use MyInvolvement.Indiana.Edu
- We should sponsor a 4-H club
- Maybe at the Boys and Girls club or at the Pinnacle school.
