Relay for Life!

So far the Indiana University Collegiate 4-H Club has raised $932.60 for the American Cancer Society through their Relay for Life team. And it keeps growing every day!

Want to contribute? Even $2-5 could go a long way in the fight against cancer.

Here's the walking schedule so far for the event!

With 13 team members, we need everyone to walk at least 1 hour! The first 3 hours (4-7) are not walking hours, but the event starts then. (Registration at 3PM)

IU Collegiate 4-H Meeting, March 20, 2007

President Jessica Falkenthal called the meeting to order at 8:15 PM.

A display with pictures of Cancer Survivors will be created by our Club for event- Please give copies of these pictures to Jennifer!
We are still in need of a tent! Contact Jennifer with information if you can help!
Jess and Alicia might be walking neighborhoods this Saturday afternoon (March 24th) asking for donations. If you are interested, please contact Jess!
Relay for Life team will be meeting next Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at 8:15 PM in Educ 1004. Anyone on the team or still interested in joining should come!

T-Shirts/Polos

Jennifer presented the info about T-Shirts and Polos. Those present voted for T-Shirts, green with Collegiate 4-H logo on front and slogan on back. These will be in the $6.50 price range, according to Jess’ connections. Jess will e-mail info to Jennifer, who will get estimates for 20, 30, and 40 T-Shirts. If they are cheap enough, we will order extra for next year’s new members.

Share the Fun on Friday, March 23, 2007 in Elletsville

We need to be there by 6:15, and the event will last from 7 to 9 PM. We are still in need of drivers- thus far, our only driver is Livy. We can use more stagehands, and anyone is welcome to come and watch the talent show!

Junior Leaders Meeting on Monday, April 2, 2007
Recruit our Project Workshop day. Starts at 7:30 PM, short time commitment. Kara and Jess are probably going- if interested, contact them!

Boys and Girls Club on Friday, April 6.

Mircrowave and cooking project. Ellen, Katie and Jacob will probably be there. Jennifer and Rachel will fill out volunteer forms so they can be there too. Jess- get project book from Jeff! If anyone has any ideas of what we should bake, e-mail Katie or Ellen. So far, we think we might be making puppy chow!

Also on Friday April 6- Bloom Magazine Delivery Fundraiser ($400!!!! Please Help!!)

We need 5 people to pick up the magazines on Friday and deliver them over the weekend. Need 5 drivers and 5 passengers- work in pairs. We may be able to deliver Monday, since this is Easter weekend. Lindie will e-mail with more details.

Ellen and Kevin are taking care of one of the pick-up and delivery shifts!

Orange Co. Officer Training on Sunday April 29, from 6-8PM
We need a few more people. So far: Ellen, Jess, Kara, maybe Alicia. We will train you in any area so you are an expert!! Please contact Ellen or Jess!!

Possible Volunteer Opportunity:
Egg Scramble on Friday March 30 7:15 to 9:15. Egg Hunt for Adults! Need people for course construction, registration, etc. Interested thus far: Rachel Bogle, Alicia Jennings, Livy Wilz, and Jess

Student Organization Award
Due April 6th- need people to help fill out. Ellen has volunteered to help, but we can use more people and split up the forms.

Study A-Thon Fundraiser
Members present agreed a good idea. Have people pledge money per hour of studying, rent a room, and study all day the Saturday before finals. We will discuss at next meeting…

Banquet/Party!! Last Meeting of Semester, on April 17, Jacob and Kara will plan something awesome for our club to do (probably go out to eat, maybe give out awards?)

4-H Host Weekend Committee: Livy, Ellen, and Alicia have signed up so far. We will need a lot of people to plan this, and it will be a lot of fun!

Project Workshop Day (Saturday, April 14):
Livy and Ellen will organize food for the event

Service Info from Rachel Bogle
Adopt a Platoon- Send a care package every so often (once a month, etc) to troops overseas. We will try to send a small package from just our club before the end of the school year, and will try to get more donations for next fall. We might be able to ask for donations at SAO end of the year banquet- Jess will look into it!!

National Collegiate 4-H Conference

It's not too early to be thinking about the 2008 National Collegiate 4-H Conference being held in Denver, Colorado February 21-24th 2008! It's a wonderful opportunity to meet Collegiate 4-H members from across the country who are also passionate about 4-H! Visit the above link for more information!
If you're interested in going, we can start fundraising early in our 07-08 school year, so we can send as many delegates as are interested in going!

March 6th Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Jessica Falkenthal. A total of thirteen members were in attendance. Jacob led an icebreaker and provided snacks. Lindie collected dues ($5).

Those in attendance discussed ordering club shirts. Lindie moved to send this to committee, Jacob seconded the motion. Jennifer will form the committee and bring more information to the next meeting.

Old Business: Sabrina and Jessica commented on their trip to the National Collegiate 4-H Conference. Sam and Jessica outlined their experience at the Monroe County/Area 4-H Officer Training. Ellen and Sabrina discussed the 4-H Poultry Club Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction that occurred last week. Kara and Jessica attended Find Out Night. Lindie and Jessica attended the Central District Leaders Clinic and brought back information on how to judge at County Fairs.

New Business:
Share the Fun will be Friday, March 23 at Edgewood High School at 7pm. Those who volunteered include: Judges- Jessica, Rachel, Sabrina; Emcees- Ellen, Lindie; Backstage Assistance- Kara and Sam. Jessica will be emailing those who signed up to attend.
Relay for Life is March 30-April 1 from 4pm-9am. Money needs to be turned in by March 20th along with luminary bags. Our club still needs to turn in our $100 registration fee. Jennifer will check into restaurants for a fundraising opportunity. You can send the names of cancer survivors to Jennifer by March 20th to get the names printed in the programs. If you have a tent please contact Jennifer. Registration for the event will start at 3pm at the outdoor track.
Monroe County/Area 4-H Project Workshop Day is Saturday, April 14 10-2pm. If you need more information please contact Jessica.
Boys and Girls Club, Friday, April 6 4-5pm. We will be conducting at Microwave Food demonstration. Food will be provided by Jeff, Monroe County Extension Educator. Please contact Jessica if you can help out.

Potential Projects:
April Social with Purdue-these details will be handled by Kara and Jacob.
4-H Host Weekend-October 20007. Donors are pending.
ATV Safety Grant is due April 9. Contact Jessica if you are interested.
National Collegiate 4-H Service Projects of Emphasis
OMK-Rachel has volunteered to coordinate this program. Please contact her will any questions.
Resource Library for the 4-H Community- Please start formulating ideas for this project.
