January 16, 2007 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by club President Jessica Falkenthal. A total of eleven members were present.
Our first meeting of the new year was a call-out meeting for new members. Jessica opened by welcoming everyone. Ellen and Jessica facilitated two icebreakers. Jessica presented a PowerPoint that included what Collegiate 4-H involves, previous projects that the club participated in last year, and club logistics. The floor was then turned over to Ellen. She gave a short description of each committee. Committee sign-up sheets were passed around for new member sign-ups.
Jessica outlined upcoming events that our club members can participate in. Sign-up sheets were passed around for:
Monroe County Volunteer Training on January 20, 2007 from 10am-2pm
Boys and Girls Club once a month on Friday afternoons from 4-5pm
Chocolate Fest on February 3, 2007 from 1:30-4pm
Find Out Night on February 3, 2007 (times will be announced at a later date)
Monroe County/Area 4-H Officer Training on February 21, 2007 from 6:30-8:30pm
Relay for Life on March 30-April 1, 2007 from noon to noon
Katie will pass around sign-up sheets for the following upcoming events at a later date:
Monroe County 4-H Public Speaking Workshop in March
Monroe County/Area 4-H Project Workshop Day on April 14, 2007 from 10am-2pm
Fair Judging during the summer
Jessica also discussed additional opportunities available for club members:
National Collegiate 4-H Conference—February 15-18 in Baton Rouge, LA. The deadline for registration is January 19, 2007. Additional information is available on the website.
National 4-H Conference is requesting that Collegiate 4-H Facilitators apply. The deadline is January 31, 2007.
4-H Citizenship Washington Focus Program Assistant internships—deadline to apply is January 27, 2007. Contact Jessica if you have any questions.
Announcements were made at the end of the meeting. The Social and 4-H Committee will meet January 23, 2007—8:15pm, School of Education Room 1004. The next mass meeting will be January 30, 2007—8:15pm, School of Education Room 1004. Jessica will email Boys and Girls Club volunteer applications. The next Fundraising Committee meeting will be emailed out at a later date.
Those who attended the meeting split into two groups to discuss ideas on future plans and what each expected to get out of the club for the Spring 2007 semester.
